Polling is the service that enables users on the ground to send the Polling Command to specific ship, specific group in the specific ocean region area. For example, the report is transmitted according to the Polling Command sent from the LES provider , or the report is transmitted according to intervals and start time for transmitting the report programmed in MES. Types of Data Report protocols Data Report is classified into the following protocols.

Even if the protocol of Data Report changes, contents to be report do not change. Since there is no acknowledgment function, the Report may not be transmitted securely. Enhanced Data Report; The Report can be securely transmitted by using the acknowledgement function after transmitting the report. Pre-Assigned Data Report; This report is the report, which is programmed on the ground and needs to be transmitted at fixed transmission intervals and fixed time time.

Since there is no acknowledgment function in the same manner as DR, the report may not be transmitted securely. This report needs to be transmitted at fixed transmission intervals and fixed time time.

The report can be securely transmitted by using the acknowledgement function after transmitting the report in the same way as EDR. Acknowledgement function: This function is used to check the checksum at the receiving side in order to confirm that the report is securely transmitted. Note The above operation depends on the VMS setting file.

Whether to add characters "VMS" is decided by the provider. Data Report. EPADR - 4. The above Report uses Signaling Channel; therefore the system is different. Data Report is not executed. This board is equipped with the function for processing transmit and receive signals, communication protocol control function and interface function.

As for the receive signal, I signal and Q signal of 2nd IF 7. Input voltage: This board is 12 to 24 V switching regulator and equipped with the circuit protecting from Low-input voltage, Over-voltage and Over-current. This board consists of the noise filter and the power reverse connection protector diode. This board is mounted with the Power connector. GPenc is encoded data. Table 5. Compatibility of Antenna unit Although different antenna unit cannot be connected, a different Antenna unit can be temporarily connected according to the following table in order to check equipment and detect failures of Antenna or Communication unit.

Also, when connecting other Antenna unit, the Antenna coaxial cable having the standard length for the equipment needs to be used. Horizontal directivity is approximately circular and has non-directivity. Receiving circuit Receiving gain: CR4 on the TX circuit is used as the Limiter. Even though the assumed range of cable loss is 2 to 12 dB, use the coaxial cable having the standard length.

This transmission level is 10 to 15 dBm. Receiving circuit The receive signal 1. U23 outputs the GPS reception signal The level is to dBm. Also, differential output If the above PLL local oscillation frequency is deviated, the error rate increases without being converted into correct frequency. System setup Command Window settings 4. W Frame Sync. Basic steps of processes according to channel are as follows. This method adds the redundancy bit having the predetermined pattern to the data bit string. By performing viterbi decoding at the receiving side, the erroneously received bit can be corrected if the number of bits is less than the predefined number. Viterbi Decoding The signal is returned to the signal on which Convolution Encoding is performed. If any error is found, the error is corrected by Viterbi Decoding.

The burst error is also corrected by combining with the interleaving. Scrambling Scrambling mixes "0" and "1" moderately in order to prevent "0" or "1" from continuing excessively. If "1" or "0" data continues when decoding BPSK modulated wave is decoded, clock recovery would be reduced and modulation cannot be performed. This processing prevents this problem. De-Scrambling Scrambled signal is decoded. W Unique Word The specific bit pattern is added for bit synchronization at the receiving party.

Frame Sync. The U. W Unique Word is detected and synchronized with the frame signal. Interleaving, Permuting If there is a block error in the bit string, it is hard to correct the error. Interleaving is used for inputting the bit rate in the Interleaving matrix and reading out the bit rate in the appropriate sequence.

Reading process is referred to a "Permuting. De-Permuting, De-Interleaving De-Permuting is the process used for inputting the modulated signal to the interleave matrix by reversing procedure of Permuting. De-Interleaving is the process used for extracting signals from the interleave matrix by reversing the procedure of Interleaving. Pre-amble Preamble consists of the carrier recovery bits and the clock regeneration bits for easy synchronization at the receiving party.

For example, data signal "0" indicates that no phase is shifted 0 degrees ; and data signal "1" indicates that the phase is shifted degrees. Also, the LCD driver circuit is mounted. The Inmarsat C system provides worldwide telex and data transmission and reception of written information to owners of an Inmarsat C transceiver or a terrestrial telex network via satellite.

Further, e-mail may be sent via the internet. Communication mode is store-and-forward telex, which means all information sent are first stored at an LES and then delivered to designated party. Besides its primary application of ship-shore, shore-ship or ship-ship communications, the Inmarsat C service has also proved beneficial to trucking firms who have found it indispensable for communicating with their vehicles.

In this manual, however, we will concentrate on ship applications, the main application. The Inmarsat C system divides the world into four regions and each region is covered by its own satellite. The NCS keeps track of all Inmarsat C transceivers in its region and broadcasts information such as navigational warnings, weather reports and news. There are three types of MES: class 1, class 2 and class 3. Class 2: 1 The functions of class 1 plus operation as an EGC receiver when not transmitting or receiving.
